Our Story

We both started our teaching careers in 2018. Coincidentally, we got the same instructional mentor to support us for the first two years of teaching. We met a couple of times throughout the year at novice orientations, meet-ups with other mentees and new teachers, specifically The Pumphouse and Postdoc Brewing Company. Our instructional mentor had mentioned Griff's name to me - she thought they might be compatible.

Towards the end of our first year teaching, the final mentee meet-up, a Mariners game, fell through. Everyone was tired and (understandably) declined the invite. Griff was bummed; he wanted to hang out with me still. He reached out to me on Facebook Messenger, invited me to the game, and we spent the entire time talking! Griff bought our tickets (I Venmoed him back), he bought our bus passes (well...he originally bought a $40 parking pass but was too shy to suggest he drive them to Safeco Field, but he still paid for them and helped me navigate the bus system), AND he made sure I texted him when I got home. He was a real gentleman. :)

The school year ended a couple days later and we hung out that day, too! Griff even met my parents, Martin and Margaret, at the clubhouse that night while they were golfing. Less than a week later, Megan left the country. Griff was bummed, but we texted the entire time I was in Spain. When I got back, Griff couldn't wait to hang out! I said he needed to wait because my cousin, Sofia, was visiting from New York. Griff (not-so) patiently waited. We hung out at my parents' house, watched a movie, and the rest is history.

We stayed up late through the summer of 2019 texting, FaceTiming, and getting to know each other. We became best friends. Just a few months later, a week before the world shut down, Megan bought a condo and we made plans to move in together! We moved in together in April 2020. Our love grew stronger as we lived, and taught, from our home. In April 2021, we adopted our Aussiedoodle, Ellie, together! In August 2021, after a long, fun day at Lumen Field watching two major soccer games (Reign AND Sounders), we went for a walk around our condo complex, Griff got down on one knee, and he asked Megan to marry him. We are so excited to celebrate in July 2023!!
